Beckhoff: 40 Years of Innovations
Today’s ecosystem of industrial automation is characterised by many media disruptions during the processing and transfer of documentation. It is essential to resolve these issues within the development process for machines and plant systems – via targeted collaboration among all stakeholders and systems. Data created in the engineering process must be shared with everyone involved in the process.
Support challenges associated with aging and obsolete Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), combined with built-in cyber security and expanded functionality in modern RTU designs, are accelerating utility efforts to replace legacy hardware. The increasingly critical role of the substation RTU, notably in bulk and transmission substations, underscores the importance of ease of use, high performance, interoperability and scalability.
New TECHNOMET TX tower-style enclosures solve lots of electronics design challenges. The extra space they provide is an obvious advantage – especially when the footprint remains so compact – but there are other benefits too. This brief article will go over 6 good reasons to specify a tower enclosure, as opposed to a regular enclosure.
For years, urban citizens have been unhappy with their mobility experience: too much traffic causing long transportation times, too much noise, poor air quality, and limited parking options, to name but a few of the issues. Then, in one day, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the order to “stay at home” has completely reshaped cities, forcing us to reconsider the way we live our lives and the way we do business.
ABB is already participating in implementation of autonomous systems projects in mining, outlining the levels of automation from those that are currently present in industry, to those that are feasible moving forward. Digitalisation and automation are set to be the defining mining industry trends of the 21st century. Innovations in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and the industrial internet of things (IoT) all have the potential to save the sector an estimated $373 billion by 2025 by automating machinery operation, facilitating predictive maintenance, improving traceability, harnessing the power of real-time data and analytics, and providing visibility across the mine-to-market value chain.
In this special Monthly Market Company Feature we are discussing building controls with John Zappa, Owner and President of Building Controls Group a distributor for HVAC control supplies (embed website on first company mention) in St. Paul Minnesota. Buildings Controls Group has a UL508a fabricating facility that also specializes in the fabrication of UL508A industrial control panels for the HVAC and building automation industry.

This webinar presented by Beth Lessard and Keith Cordero will be highlighting three Panduit solutions that will optimize network equipment and cabling to ensure that your spaces are efficiently and properly managed to support ever-evolving business needs of today and beyond. Products that will be featured include PanZone TrueEdge Wall Mount Enclsoure, Cable Managers, and Adjustable Depth 4-Post Rack.

The Siemens SIMOVAC medium-voltage non-arc-resistant and SIMOVAC-AR arc-resistant controllers have a modular design incorporating up to two 12SVC400 (400 A) controllers, housed in a freestanding sheet steel enclosure. Each controller is UL 347 class E2, equipped with three current-limiting fuses, a non-load-break isolating switch, and a fixed-mounted vacuum contactor (plug-in type optional for 12SVC400). The enclosure is designed for front access, allowing the equipment to be located with the rear of the equipment close to a non-combustible wall.

The OMRON S8NR Series is an IP67 rated industrial power supply designed for out of panel installation in harsh environments where dust, moisture, vibration, and accessibility challenges impact reliability. By moving the power supply outside the control panel, S8NR reduces enclosure complexity, electrical labor, and service time while maintaining stable, protected DC power delivery. Read More…

In power distribution, heavy-duty machinery and transportation applications, vibrations can weaken a terminal block’s clamping power and loosen wire connections. The resulting power and signal failures can lead to unwanted system downtime, fire and shock risks, or other safety issues. Fortunately, one type of terminal block design makes secure connections possible while also providing easy… Read More…
