Metric Vs. AWG Size Conductors
In today’s manufacturing landscape, the speed and reliability of daily operations translate directly into enhanced productivity. Miles of wires underpin nearly every industrial operation, and those wires come together in control panels filled with tray after tray of connection terminals. Due to the high number of conductor termination points, there can be a higher susceptibility of signal loss or intermittence as a result of bad terminations. Any of these interruptions can reduce the ability to meet production goals, as downtime will be necessary until faults are corrected.
Variable frequency drives (VFDs) are electronic devices that manipulate electrical current in specific ways. In industrial settings, VFDs are used to funnel AC power, convert it into DC power, and temporarily store converted current until it is needed. VFDs are also an important component in IGBTs (insulated-gate bipolar transistors). In these devices, VFDs allow the rapid modulation of incoming and outgoing current.
With the EPLAN Engineering Standard, new and seasoned users alike can access example data and templates that facilitate using standards in projects. These include guidelines for installing the EPLAN Platform, standardized basic templates and macro project templates, project planning and design templates for typical tasks, and sector-specific best practices.
The first iteration of Smart Production Solutions (SPS) hosted Stateside (Atlanta GA) was not too busy, making maneuvering thru isles of Show Hall C in the Georgia World Congress Center quite easy. However, many of the manufacturers we spoke to were more focused on the quality of conversations and leads from day 1 versus the…
In today’s competitive market, machine builders face pressure to deliver highly reliable, cost-effective, sustainable and energy-efficient machines. Customers also expect new equipment to be compatible with digitalization and automation technologies. The key to meeting these customer expectations is using high-quality, advanced variable speed drives (VSDs) also known as variable frequency drives (VFDs), or just drives, along with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Authorized employee training is one of the most important aspects of a complete energy control program. Training delivers the knowledge that employees need to effectively lock out equipment for servicing or maintenance. This type of training should include the use of energy control procedures as well as lockout locks, tags and devices.

This webinar presented by Beth Lessard and Keith Cordero will be highlighting three Panduit solutions that will optimize network equipment and cabling to ensure that your spaces are efficiently and properly managed to support ever-evolving business needs of today and beyond. The Siemens SIMOVAC medium-voltage non-arc-resistant and SIMOVAC-AR arc-resistant controllers have a modular design incorporating up to two 12SVC400 (400 A) controllers, housed in a freestanding sheet steel enclosure. Each controller is UL 347 class E2, equipped with three current-limiting fuses, a non-load-break isolating switch, and a fixed-mounted vacuum contactor (plug-in type optional for 12SVC400). The enclosure is designed for front access, allowing the equipment to be located with the rear of the equipment close to a non-combustible wall.

The OMRON S8NR Series is an IP67 rated industrial power supply designed for out of panel installation in harsh environments where dust, moisture, vibration, and accessibility challenges impact reliability. By moving the power supply outside the control panel, S8NR reduces enclosure complexity, electrical labor, and service time while maintaining stable, protected DC power delivery. Read More…

In power distribution, heavy-duty machinery and transportation applications, vibrations can weaken a terminal block’s clamping power and loosen wire connections. The resulting power and signal failures can lead to unwanted system downtime, fire and shock risks, or other safety issues. Fortunately, one type of terminal block design makes secure connections possible while also providing easy… Read More…
