Banner Engineering: R95C 8-Port Modbus Hub

Banner’s new R95C-8B21-MQ 8-port Discrete Modbus Hub is a quick and easy way to integrate discrete devices into a Modbus system. It converts discrete signal inputs and outputs the values to defined Modbus registers. The R95C-8B21-MQ also serves as a discrete data aggregator that can function as a smart logic device and is able to store valuable sensor data directly on the hub. The R95C-8B21-MQ can quickly and easily connect directly to multiple discrete devices and has a compact and rugged overmolded design that meets IP65, IP67, and IP68 ratings, allowing placement nearly anywhere it’s needed.

Enable OEE

Discrete data from multiple sensors can be sent to and stored on the R95C-8B21-MQ hub, such as on/off status, length of sensor on/off, frequency of sensor on/off, duration of on/off status, and sensor counts. This valuable data can drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) initiatives. 

Perform Local Logic Operations

As a smart logic device, the R95C-8B21-MQ can execute multiple types of on/off delays, including on/off one-shot and on/off retriggerable one-shot. Other functions the R95C-8B21-MQ can perform are on/off pulse stretcher, totalizer, and port mirroring. This on-device logic processing offers flexibility to system designers.

Do More with Your Modbus System

The R95C-8B21-MQ is able to bring up to 16 NPN or PNP discrete signals and drive up to eight discrete outputs. Coupled with the ability to connect multiple R95C-8B21-MQ hubs to a Modbus client such as the DXMR90-X1 industrial controller, you can transmit vast quantities of discrete data to a PLC, HMI, SCADA system, or cloud platform.
