ABB Opens New $4 Million Northeast Distribution Center in Lehigh Valley, PA

May 16, 2023

ABB Installation Products has recently opened its $4 million Northeast Distribution Center in Easton, Pennsylvania to meet increased demand for electrical solutions.

The new 350,000 square-foot facility adds 100 new jobs in the area, boosts inventory availability and will reduce delivery times to many ABB Installation Products customers and distributor partners across the Northeast region by up to 50 percent.

President Joe Biden in discussing the Investing in America agenda focused on making local economies stronger and more resilient said, “This investment in a regional distribution center in Lehigh Valley will create good-paying jobs, shore up our transportation and infrastructure supply chains here at home, and help build a clean energy economy.”

The United States remains ABB’s largest market by revenue, and this investment adds to over $14 billion ABB has already invested in the U.S. since 2010. It also builds on more than $100 million in ABB Installation Products expansions and improvements made in the U.S. since 2020 to increase manufacturing capacity, drive innovation and sustainability, and bring needed products closer to customers.

“We continue to build upon our legacy of pioneering innovative electrification products that contractors and installers rely on every day to complete critical commercial, residential and utility projects. Now we are further regionalizing our global supply chain to provide greater speed to our partners and customers of needed electrical solutions,” said Matthias Heilmann, President, ABB Installation Products Division. “As ABB experiences increasing product demand, expanding our U.S. distribution network broadens access to essential electrical solutions and cuts delivery times in half for a large number of our customers and distributors across the Northeast.”

ABB’s Northeast Distribution Center stocks $15 million in inventory and more than 5,000 high-demand products used to power, connect and protect electrical systems across a wide range of construction, industrial, infrastructure, transportation and utility applications. Serving customers across more than a dozen states, the Northeast Distribution Center is part of Installation Products nationwide distribution network that includes distribution centers in Phoenix, Arizona and Byhalia, Mississippi.

Located within 80 miles of New York City and Philadelphia on nearly 10 acres at 1000 Carson Court in Easton, Pa., the Northeast facility expands ABB’s U.S. distribution footprint to increase direct delivery routes and reduce carbon emissions coast-to-coast. ABB is leveraging technology and distributed inventory to improve lead times of custom fabrications and in-stock items such as Ty-Rap® cable ties, Carlon® electrical boxes, Color-Keyed® lugs, Steel City® commercial boxes and fittings, and Elastimold® cable accessories.

Building on its 100-year history of innovation, ABB Installation Products creates solutions to safely connect and protect electrical systems that power businesses, cities, homes and transportation. With more than 200,000 products under 38 premium brand names, ABB Installation Products, formerly Thomas & Betts, solutions are found wherever electricity is used around the world and in space.
