Phoenix Contact: Thermal-magnetic Protection in an 8-mm Package

PTCB TM thermal-magnetic pluggable circuit breakers

Narrow circuit breakers for more space in the control cabinet

Phoenix Contact introduces the PTCB TM, the smallest pluggable thermal-magnetic circuit breakers on the market. Measuring just 8 millimeters wide, the individual circuit breakers feature both protection and signaling in a single module. The narrow design saves up to 65% space compared with other thermal-magnetic circuit breakers.

The thermal-magnetic circuit breakers have been specially developed for industrial applications with high inrush currents. The circuit breakers are available in finely graduated nominal currents from 0.5 A to 16 A and cover a wide range of applications with the characteristic trip curves F2 and M1. These applications range from sensitive electronic components to power-intensive loads such as motors and transformers.

The PTCB TM features alignable current monitoring with an adjustable signaling threshold, providing local and remote visualization of the load status. Digital outputs make it easy to integrate with a PLC to view the status remotely. A tilting lever clearly shows the switching status, even when the power is off. This reduces required training and minimizes operating errors.

The entire PTCB TM series can be bridged to Phoenix Contact’s CLIPLINE complete terminal block range for intuitive integration into existing applications.

Altech Corp.: 85-A STH5 Hinge-Type Terminal Blocks Resist Vibrations and Provide Fast, Safe Access

In power distribution, heavy-duty machinery and transportation applications, vibrations can weaken a terminal block’s clamping power and loosen wire connections. The resulting power and signal failures can lead to unwanted system downtime, fire and shock risks, or other safety issues. Fortunately, one type of terminal block design makes secure connections possible while also providing easy… Read More…
